I was looking at Dynomax's exhaust system and it is like 220 plus shipping on summitracing.com and I want to know if that will really help alot, and if it would just make more sense to just get a nice muffler? I want it to sound as badass as possible, but I also don't want to end up spending a thousand bucks. I also want the best performance, increased HP and what not.

you can get a muffler by itself, and go to the local parts store to get pieces of tubing, and make your own. i have about $50 into my system, and it sounds just as good as a system that will cost $220 like you said.

edit: how do you have a 3.0 liter 4 cylinder engine? weight savings with a sawzall?

Is that going to be too hard to do?

Reply to edit: i accidentally put 4 instad of 6

if you have a welder, or a buddy with one, it's easy. otherwise, they also sell couplers and clamps so that you can just bolt everything together.

so you are saying to just do the pipe as an extension from the stock pipes on it, or go all the way to the engine block? Should I do 2 or 3 chambers? Tips?

if you look under the truck, right after the catalytic converters there is a flange where you can unbolt the catalytic converters from the section with the muffler. on mine, i left a few inches of pipe after that flange but before the muffler. i then got an adapter from the auto parts store to go from the stock size (2.25" if i remember right) to 2.5" that my new muffler is. i also got a section of straight 2.5" pipe, and a 2.5" 90* bend, which i cut off to make a turn down right after the muffler. i had my exhaust welded up, but i know that things are made that are basically a giant D ring that you can use to clamp pieces of the exhaust pipe together.

Gotcha, and did you put a tip or anything on it?
