Whats wrong with this picture

59793

The hole in flange got bigger and let spring come thru so big leak

It happened when driving and I was near my local muffler shop so stopped by
They put it on the lift and told me I needed to replace Cat back, $700!!!!

I have used the same shop for years but new owners now
Said no thanks but would let them know

Got home then got under it and had a look, pipes and muffler are fine, no holes or weak spots, just the flange, donut and bolts need replacing, WTF??
Kinda pissed me off

Just venting

Probably could fix the old flange with a washer, lol, but ordered a split flange to replace it

I would have paid $100, maybe $150 for this fix had they even offered it

You can buy a cat back stainless for way less...

I would have paid a hundred to have them patch it up too...

Well it is Canadian $$ so $700 is about $550 US, lol

$700 for install of new Cat back exhaust was high but not unreasonable, what pissed me off was that it really wasn't needed in this situation
i.e. "ashtray is full, buy a new car", solves the problem of a full ashtray, but maybe not the best way to solve the problem

I keep forgettin about that Looney money over there. But I totally understand what you're saying.

I think we can get a full stainless Gibson for less then $500...

that's why you never let my mom work on stuff

LOL, yes, I think I will be grinding the old bolts off

Is a bolt still a bolt when it has no threads?

Is a bolt still a bolt when it has no threads?

But isn't a bolt of cloth made from threads?

This "thread" is definitely taking a Monty Python turn.

This "bolt" is no more! "It" has ceased to be! 'It's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'It's a stiff! Bereft of "threads", 'it rests in peace! - paraphrased "dead parrot"
