excessive play in distributor.

is it normal to be able to freely spin the distributor to adjust timing on the 2.9? just doesnt seem right that i can just turn it with my hand.. is there no fastening apparatus.. or is this a sign of something else?

There should be a distributor hold down bolt. Its should not spin freely.
