Short of using dynamite has anyone figured out an easy way to change an alternater on an escape?

What year is it?

It comes out the bottom IIRC.

Take off right front wheel, take off belt, un bolt alternator, un bolt and remove alternator bracket, the remove alternator, sometimes you have to remove the cv axle to get the alty out

don't know what year it was but having to pull half the front suspension apart, removing the inner and outer cv. shafts and then having to unbolt and lower the subframe to make a big enough hole to extract the alternater seems totally rediculous. Thanks for the replies guys, sounds like another vehicle to add to my 'never buy one of them' list.

eh it takes about 1 1/2 hrs after you do it once in a shop enviornment, really not as bad as some of the other junk thats out there..

It was in a shop environment, but when you are in the rust belt anything that involves removing anything on the underside of a vehicle is a pain in the ass. The seemingly simple task of removing wheels can be a challenge here as they are often welded on by rust.

I don't like snow, or cold, It has "snowed" here in north florida twice in my life and the snow didn't last 5 minutes on the ground. That being said the only things I really see for rust are 80's vehicles, but the people that live on the beach have got the 80's ones beat hands down. I dont really have to deal with a lotta rust here..... and i'm glad of it.

Welcome to the world of FWD vehicles. It is very similar to the 2.5L Contours.
