every gear is a forward after doin tranny work

i put a shift kit in my truck last nite filled it up with tranny fluid would nt move at first so i added some more and bango it moves in P R N D 2 1 almost like its stuck in a forward gear at all times any ideas and also it wont move in park now but it wont rev past 1500 either looks like its comin apart again oh and my o/d light did flash when i first tried goin probly from low fluid cause its out now

Did you have to change any springs or put in check balls into the valve body? If you did and they are in the wrong place it could cause strange problems.

got all the gears workin lol my stupidness rushing i never hooked up the piece that makes it engage into each different gear so it was stuck in forward all the time now ive ran into another problem when in reverse it takes a min to engage than it wont rev past 1000 to 1500 and the o/d light flashes

Do you mean you rev it in reverse or neutral? You may have to take it apart again and make sure everything is where it should be per your instructions. I have only worked on 3 speed automatics so I may be off on this, but the springs and check balls controll pressure for the gears and if they are in the wrong place they could be causing your problems. Just a thought.

oh ya if you shift all the way into drive there is no problem the o/d light doesnt come on either

transmission range sensor? did you mess with it? Do a youtube search for this part. Looks same for most fords. This happened to the fiance's taurus but it was stuck in reverse.

truck will go in reverse just when you give it gas the motor chugs than the o/d light flashes everything is where it needs to be had a diagram for that just seems wierd maybe i got some gunk in one of my solenoids.

well the scoop is i have no reverse now wat so ever it just idles like it is in neutral least before it would go in somewhat and chug along with the o/d light flashing but every other gear works fine now could a bad battery connection be doing this because itll work sometimes.
