Ethanol free gas!!!!!!!!

I run whatever. Ethanol's cost per mile is less even though the mileage is decreased. Personally I know how to tune even my bikes to run perfectly fine on ethanol although the 1277 Bandit needed a cam timing change to really go with it.

Yeah, carbs can be built and tuned to run properly on ethanol, and it's actually easier to do than an FI system because you don't need a computer to do it. It's just a pain.

They did play with ethanol before, back in the 70's and decided that it was not worth the trouble.

i dont know what your guy's problems are with ethanol. i run it in everything except my bike and 69 XL. the mowers and trucks dont seem to mind. if you want the most energy per gallon go get a diesel.
I'd actually like a bunch of diesels, but my budget at this point prohibits it.

My problem is losing fuel economy and performance while paying $3/ gallon for regular gas. And couple that with the fact that instead of wages increasing to balance things out or taxes decreasing, taxes have increased and everyone wants to beat you down on your wage (well, you know the economy is like really bad right now so if you want to work you'll have to cut your price...).....

But I suppose that is bordering on starting another arguement... :annoyed:

A FlexFuel EFI system can run on either E85, straight gas or any mix in between. No adjustments required.

flexfuel efi's are ****ing garbage. my neighbor took a huge loss on his because it was in the shop at least every other week for warranty repairs. he ran some e85 in it for a while and it was running crappy. then he put some 92 octane e10 in there and ended up burning up some of his rings. he had it for 3 months and lost about 10k on the trade in.

funny thing neighbor on the other side has a prius hybrid that went out of warranty and its $6500 battery shit the bed. and they used to pick on my 300 dollar ford ranger.

lol, I've been waiting to hear that happen. Its inevitable and its going to hurt alot of people...Thats alot of money!

that was just for the battery not even sure about installation or other fees. they probably charge disposal on those ones too.

the one with the prius now drives a 80's toyota carolla with 3 out of 5 speeds that work.

The whole reasoning behind ethanol enriched gas would have to be the lessened environmental degradation, I would have to guess.

Ethanol, wasnt designed as a more efficient fuel in the sense that yall are thinkin. It was designed as an alternate energy source to reduce the use of petroleum based fuels. It is less efficient and does affect mileage. The other side of the coin is that it is made from corn I believe. By introducing ethanol to the fuel market it is an entirely different market for the farming community to market there corn crops. Boosting sales and asssting the farmers who are losing money due to slower crop sales.

You other neighbor has one of the VERY few reported failures on those batteries.

With 70's technology it wasn't. Now it is. Ethanol production right now according to the plat I pull it out of hovers around a buck a gallon. Even with the decrease in mileage it's still way cheaper than gas.

thinking i should convert to propane. cleaner in the engine than any gasoline. no more loss of power than the ethanol stuff. running from $1.50-2.00 per gal. cheaper than E85 even, where i live. conversions kits are out there, just so darned expensive. last estimate i got was about $1500 with a tank. actually, CNG (compressed natural gas) would be my 1st choice if only it were more available at service stations across the country. way cheaper than propane. just my $.02

The nice thing about propane is you can tap the lines to run additional tanks like the one on your grille. One of the locals here has a propane power VW Golf he built with a permanent tank where the old fuel tank used to be but he also has two grille tanks in the hatch area for long trips. He drive to Florida a few times a year and has found propane to be nearly nonexistent on the interstates so he appreciates the extra large reserve capacity to find refueling stations.

Propane can actually be run as an additive to diesels and it works like nos. Nos works with diesels like mileage booster if I remember correctly. Now we all know how n2o works on gas motors, but how does propane injection affect our gas motors and is it worth switching completely or just susing an injection?
