Progression is always nice.

Got the explorer back from the transmission shop yesterday. Today I started repairing all the problems it has (plugs, wires, pcv, oil change, filters...etc)

It has a broken driver side exhaust manifold. I'm not to sure how I am going to remove the old manifold, all the bolts are so rusty that there isn't a hex left on them. Also, the oil dipstick tube is gone...well part of it is. So I have to get that replaced.

I plan on driving it for a few weeks, get some miles on it to see if there is any problems that need addressed before the SAS.

Your best bet is to pull the head and try and get the bolts out that way or get a different set of heads (rebuilt) and skip the pain of extracting the bolts.

Hard to believe that it only has 110k on it and it's in that condition under the hood.

It's just that side, the inner splash shield is missing. So that might be the reason it's worse than the pass side

>mix ATF and diesel.
>apply to threads and head of stud.
>get 1/4" impact, or get a socket and ratchet if impact is not available
>if impact, you know what to do now.
>If ratchet, grab a deadblow and hit the ratchet (or breaker bar type if you dont wan't to risk breaking your ratchet) repeatedly until the nut comes off the stud.
>remove stud

But...there is nothing left of the bolt heads to put a socket on.

When I get home Monday I'll post a pic of how bad they are.

If all else fails, clean the bolt best you can the weld a nut on, done it a few times with great success. If it snaps but you still have a stud, weld some all thread on and that can become your new header stud, have done that too.

This build might be put on the back burner for a while. I've decided to sell the house and move.

Which direction you headed? If you need a hand moving, let me know...

I'm staying here, just moving out of the city. My property taxes increased $900 this year. So that increases my monthly payment more than I can afford on my own. So I am downsizing some and moving out to the country.

The country is better anyway, less restrictions, bigger garage, more room for toys without the city sending you citations for them sitting in the driveway...

Exactly one reason I want to move. I'm paying a lot just to store my trailer each month. I had a neighbor ask if I was going to leave the dually on the street cause it's a pain to try and get through the street.
