Escorts 2nd SAS

That trailer took me and my brother a week to build. Was 3 days more than I had planned. Was wanting it done Friday before memorial weekend. But, didn't have all the steel for the rails so that pushed it to Saturday afternoon.

Saturday evening I pulled the truck into the garage. Sprayed the steering box hydraulic fittings with PB and let it sit all night. Well Sunday morning I woke to an awful headache and sore throat. So all I did was lay in bed and play Xbox and sleep some more. Monday morning, drank a pot of coffee, and started replacing the steering box. What a pain in the butt to do this by myself! Got it all back together and the NPT threads on the JIC fitting was leaking. So, drain out all the new fluid, clean and dry the threads and apply more sealant. Let it sit for an hour or two. Then add more fluid and check for leaks. No more leaks and for some reason the pump stopped growling. Hmm?

Anyways, took it for a drive, re adjusted the alignment and then started on the sliders.
Picked up some 2x2x1/8 square tube and some 4x3/16 plate.

Here is how I laid them out. 3/4" below the rocker panels, and it will be 1/2 above the bottom side of the frame rails. And then I want to add some 1.5x.120 CREW tubing to the outside, to make a step...sort of.

The tube will be spaced 3" from the main slider. This is just a scrap piece for mockup.

I made some L shaped brackets that will be bolted to the frame. I will finish the passenger side tomorrow after I get some fasteners and the tubing.

I am thinking about adding a little toob to mine to get the slider to poke past my body further as well. Curious to see how yours turn out.

Very Nice!!! You do good work

But uhhh, I dont think the Traverse is going to fit on that when you take it to the trail head :icon_rofl:

Haha, I will make it fit!

Thanks Brad. But my brother did half the work and most of the welding, but I did all the structural welding.

Hopefully you will have these done by the meet so that I will have an idea on how to make a set.

I will at least have the passenger side done

When I did mine I got the passenger done, then was rushed to get my driver done before the burnout contest, so I just had it on by two mounts and a few tack welds.lol

The driver side takes a bit longer with the fuel tank in the way. If you still have the 21 gal tank you are probably going to have to drop it.

With the 16.5 gal I just loosened the back strap to get to my last mount, and since its a foot shorter up front I could get right to my middle mount.

I would just weld it. Aint got time for dilling and bolts :icon_welder: :D

Drilling 3/8 holes in the frame sucks! So after drilling a few holes I was really considering welding it. Lol
I plan on dropping the tank, one of the straps needs replaced. And, while I am at it, going to make some kind of skid for the tank.

If I ever make new ones... I'm welding them on... might weld these on to help support them more lol

Just go to a junkyard and get an OEM skid from a 4x4 Ranger.
