Escorts 2nd SAS

Very productive day!
Started the day by getting some more materials for the sliders(toob and fasteners). Welded some of the pass side slider, went to pick up my son from school. Then stopped at my parents to wire the lights for the trailer I built him. Then when I went to leave there, the starter took a crap. Been having problems with the positive wire going to the starter. It works loose every couple months. Came home, finished welding the pass side slider, took starter out to tighten up the solenoid. Then started on making the driver side.

I am really considering welding the driver side to the frame.

You did what I want to be able to do in a month, must be nice.

I've been working my butt off. Hate to see the electric bill for this month with all the welding I have been doing, just put on the third roll of 10lbs mig wire this last two weeks.

I'm lucky to go through the small roll in a year anymore.

I think I will weld the driver side. Don't feel like moving the fuel lines and dropping the tank just to drill holes.

I bolted my drivers side. Just have to weld a long pc of flat bar to one of the nuts to get it in there. Welding is risky with the heat

The only bummer about that is if you bend them while 4 wheeling or want to change them up a little, you have to cut them off....
But welding them wont be the end of the world, lots of people do it.

It won't take very long with nice drill bits :icon_thumby:

But whatever you do, lets see some pictures!!! :D

The other issue you may run into is the location of your rear mounts. If you ever decide to go 64" rear springs your mounts will need to move for the hanger to be relocated I imagine.

With the springs I have I was able to run my rear slider mount at an angle over the spring. The bolts are excusable by just loosening the tank straps.

Here is the pass side, but you get the idea.

Passenger side is done, and the driver side is all welded together but needs mounted to the frame.

Ready to bend some toob
:icon_welder:

Dont have any pics of how I mounted it to the frame yet, will post them up later.

Hope to have the driver side welded to the frame tomorrow morning before I go into work at noon, or tomorrow night after work.

Stay tuned

Should have used some good bed liner to paint them imo, much better then the paint.
