Hey guys, been a member for awhile now but mostly been a lurker. Finally getting around to posting a question!

I'm doing the escape throttle body swap, and everything lines up okay but now my trucks not idling right.

Its a 2005 4x4 Edge, with a 2000's Escape 3.0 Throttle body.

I got it bolted on, hooked up the throttle, can't hook up the cruise control cuz the cables not long enough but no big deal. Then I plugged up the hole created with the new TB with JB weld. Finally I flipped the IAT sensor around so that the TB would fit.

When I first started it up, it didnt want to run, so I played with the cable, got it to sit correctly, and now it wants to idle way too high, and theres a high pitched whistling coming from the intake area. (Which may have disappeared when I just started it, but now she just wants to idle at 3k RPMs)

Any ideas why shes idling so high? could it be from flipping the IAT sensor around? or maybe I didn't plug all the gap up enough?

Heres the TB

The high pitch whistling noise could be a vacuum leak (jb weld hole not covered completely)
That could also contribute to the high idle concern. Also make sure the butterfly in the throttle body isn't being held open because the cable is too tight or something is in the way to keep it from closing.
Good Luck

Yeah I think its the throttle cable being too tight, anyway to loosen it on the 05 engine? I couldn't really find any adjusters.

the whistling went away when I slapped some more jb weld on

The cable can be too tight in two ways, tight from stretching from the firewall, and tight from holding the throttle open. Tight from the firewall not much to do except reroute the cable if possible. Tight from holding the throttle open you will need to modify the cable bracket at the TB. Disconnect the cable linkage at the TB, and start the engine, take note of the rpm, if you have a tach. Connect the cable, and take note of rpm, if its different, the cable is too tight. If it is too tight, you might want to try the cable bracket from the donor...

Most throttle bodies have some type of adjustable hard stop on the throttle cable linkage, to keep the throttle plate from closing completely, or opening to far. It's usually just a screw or bolt and should be on the cable side of the throttle body.

There is no adjustable hard stop on the side of this throttle body. Doesn't look like theres any way to adjust the length of the Throttle Cable w/o moving the throttle cable bracket.

Starting it up w/o the throttle cable attached, the engine revs up to 3k drops then drops down to 500 then tries to kick itself back up to 3, until falling back down to 500 and slowly killing itself.

Just messing with the throttle, when the cable is attached there is a tiny amount of play so that I can push the throttle closed completely, otherwise when it starts it wants to stay at 3k with the cable attached.

I'm wondering if any of the idling problems are caused by the IAC sensor being mounted backwards?

Thanks for all the input
