entry level subs?

trust me go look at a jl slot-ported enclosure with one 8" W3v3 subwoofer it will blow your mind.

I have 2 of those exact Boss's in my truck right now. They work great and hit well considering they are two flat 10's. I am powering them with the 1600 watt 2 channel phantom amp tho. I got them in part so i could build a flat enough box so the jump seats in my ext cab Ranger would still be useable.

I have had them in for almost 10 months now, so I can safely say it's some good bang for your buck. You won't rattle anyone;s car with them, but they are indeed good, especially for the price on amazon.

The amp isnt junk, and neither are the subs.

Not to bash the subs, but my 99 gt had a boss head unit that I installed brand new. It lasted one summer. I would suggest buying more of a name brand unit like sony pioneer etc. Hell even walmart has decent units around that are cheap. As far as subs go, my first were 12" pioneer impps with a small 300watt jensen amp. People were shocked when they saw how cheap i was for the sound they were hearing. Btw they were in a 92 explorer.

I'm just going on experience, keep in mind a company can make decent subs/amps but make shite headunits. I detest brand vs brand arguements tho, it's no different than overly enthusiastic automotive enthusiasts fighting over auto brands.

I would of like to put some Kicker CompVR 12"s in, but I likes those Boss subs cuz I could still use my jumps seats. Also I knew (and now confirmed, if for no one than myself) that the amazon price is a hell of a bargain. To each their own tho.

RE AUDIO makes some killer entry level subs that wil blow your mind.

well the brand argument aside, that amp sub combo is horrably matched. your amp from the detils you gave us, the amp is putting out 50w@4ohms x2. your subs are asking for 400w@4ohms. even bridging the amp (in you can) and running your subs in a 2ohms mode. your still not going to get what the subs need to play well.

now boss is very entry level. as people have stated. this hobby can get expensive quickly. so we just dont want to see you spend money on something that is hit or miss. spending $150 once is better then spending $75 two or three times. but its your money. shop around on line, or see what your buddies have you can pick up of them. just dont by used subs(drivers)

just find out what you want, now what will work right now, and plan and do it right the first time.

My wording may have been a bit screwy and caused some confusion, but my amp is putting about 260 rms to each sub. its the PH2.800. Trust me, it's matched fine. I think goign all the way up to 400 may be a bit much for them.

EDIT: just realized the last post refferred to the thread maker's suggested setup, my bad xD
