I have a problem, my truck won’t run for more than a few seconds, there is no response from the throttle, it barley starts and then it doesn’t gain any rpm’s (then it does, but drops back to a very slow rpm then stops.) After several attempts to start it catches and will run fine, seem like it's only when I start it when it's not warmed up. I changed the fuel pump and regulator but no difference. I’m hoping that someone can help me diagnose the problem

check for large vacuum leaks and loose spark plug wires.

itd really help if you could do a self test on the truck...it could be any number of sensors giving a false reading...

Also check for a clogged throttle body by fully opening it with your hand. Check for sludge builded up behind the valve and the surrounding area in the body. If You could do a diagnosis yourself will be of great help. I can also be the IAC.

thanks for the information, I will investigate both solutions and let you know.

Did you also change the filter? It is clipped to the inside of the driver's side frame rail below the cab.

more information

I have added some more information to my first post, and yes I changed the fuel filter.

sounds kind of like a fuel pressure issue. the rev right before it dies could be the motor leaning out before running out of fuel and dying.

id varify fuel pressure while its doing this and see what readings you get. it could be a bad ground wire or fuel pump relay or the like.

The engine coolant temperature sensor is your automatic choke. Make sure this circuit is operating properly. :)shady

I changed the pump and fuel regulator, I will check for ground

very interesting, I like the way you think
