I was driving on NJTP going about 55, I started to hear some noises, kind of like as if I was not in a low enough gear for my speed (I was in OD, but it was appropriate for the speed). All of a sudden, Check Engine and the truck turns off while I'm on the highway. I pull over (scary!) and pop the hood. It's steaming a bit, doesn't start back up.

Radiator is new (3 mos.), no antifreeze leaks, fluid just changed about a month ago.

Any thoughts on what this might be? :/

my guess is you blew her up. no fluids were leaking at all? did it try to turn over or did it just do nothing

just did nothing :/

yea im nervous for you on this one but im almost positive you blew it up especially if it was steamin

but thats very odd that it did that at that low of speed unless it didnt have oil?

fresh oil change about 800 miles ago. didn't notice any leaking oil :/

put a socket on the pully on the botton and try and turn it over by hand. if it doesnt budge its seized up.

Mystery solved: apparently the water pump busted. Poured 2 gals of antifreeze in and 2 gals came right out.

Minor fix! :D

Thanks.

good that the engine was smart enough to shut itself down!

even so, check your oil for water, and your water for oil, make sure you didn't crack heads, because if you did you need to get that fixed RIGHT NOW before you end up rebuilding the whole engine.

Dude...you don't know how lucky you are!!! Now...go play the lottery and give me at least 3 % of your winnings for telling you to play!!!!

Yeah, I can only imagine how much worse it could have been.
