My parts truck came with a junk, I assume, 4.0 from a 01. I know my 95 4.0 is different but am curious what parts would transfer over and be worth saving from the newer engine? I’ve seen on here mentioned to use the newer oil pan since it has a built in girdle. Is there anything else worth removing before I take the engine in with scrap?

As mentioned the oil pan (both upper and lower will be needed, hopefully your donor has the oil level and temp sensors.

Depending on the bore condition of both engines, the SOHC 4.0 uses the same original bore piston diameter, they are flat top instead of dished which will increase the compression ratio of your OHC 4.0l from 9:1 to a little over 10:1. Each full point of compression will yield between 4%-6% hp increase; your 155 or becomes 161.2-164.3 or your 160 becomes 166.4-169.6...not bad 🍑'$

Guess I’ll tear it down some and salvage more than I thought. I assume the block is not compatible between the 2 generations?
