Need help ! What compications will I run into swapping a 94 4.0 L into a 97 4.0 L . Will it fit?

You will need to strip your new engine down to the long block, swap all sensors, and such. If you old one blew up and broke things in the top end you will need a new intake manifold too. I'd also closely inspect the injectors for debris or damage from shrapnel.

Other than that, they are pretty much the same engine.

Also the blocks should be different, in regards to the threaded holes on the outside, so you might need the brackets that bolt between the engine mounts and the block.
I had too putting a 95 4.0 in my 93. One of those little things you wouldnt even think about.

The block casting was changed in too. It might not seem as smooth after you are done. The block was recast with better reinforcements for better NVH quality in 87.
