engine swap

i have a 94 ranger XLT with the 3.0L vulcan engine, four wheel drive and a 5 speed manual transmission and i also have a 96 ranger XLT with the 2.3L 4 banger, 2-wheel drive with the five speed tranny. the 96 is what i drive now but the 2.3l is on its last leg i wanna swap engines but i dont know if its possible and if it is(which im preying for) what would i need i got all the tools just what parts might i need to get to finish the job? any info about this from anyone would help. im building this as a project for school and for sentimental value and really to get to work and back but thanks to everyone who has knowledge about this qustion and is willing to help

Well, the 96 will be OBD2, where the 94 will be OBD1. That in itself can be issue, especially when licensing the vehicle...

The 3.0 and 2.3 have different bellhousing bolt patters, motor mounts, radiator, fuel lines..etc

You will need to swap EVERYTHING.

can the bellhousings be swaped on the trannys themselfs?

The trans that the 3.0 uses does not have a removable bellhousing

A new engine for the 2.3 truck, yeah.

You're looking at just fixing whats wrong with the 2.3 truck, or undergoing a complete engine swap and ending up with one frankenstein truck and one without a motor.....

well the 3.0 got a bent frame and the 2.3 got a cracked block thats why i want to just switch engines
