Engine swap question

Hello everyone and THANK YOU in advance for any and all help!

So my 2001ranger xlt 4x4, 4.0 SOHC engine needs some major overhaul. I have a buddy with a great condition 4.0 SOHC from a 2006 explorer, and was wondering if swapping the two would be an option.

Yes, that would be fine
But a long block swap
You will use your intake with fuel rail and injectors, and valve covers, so all the wiring matches
And your exhaust and oil pan if.................they are different

Also change the 2 long chain tensioners because they need to be changed every 100k anyway, so you can start the clock on them
Also change rear main seal and O2 sensors

2WD or 4x4 doesn't matter, neither does manual or automatic
