engine swap in a 91

a friend and i are about to buy a 1991 ranger extended cab. truck is in decent condition, but the tranny is going (only drives in 1 and 2 gear, but for $750 we cant complain), it comes with the tranny for a 302, and my friends father happens to have an engine that will fit. how much money would it cost for us to do a swap? and what are all will we have to mod? someone told me we'd need to get a different transfer case. anyways, the truck comes with a 3in body lift, 15x10 rockcrawlers, mickey thompson 33x12.5x15 baja mtx's, bushwacker cutouts, and a leer cap. I plan to put the wheels/tires and cap on my ranger after i install my body lift.

anyways, to the point, how much time and money would an engine swap take? and what are the other factors of doing a conversion?

where ya at, and you need a complete 302, rad, engine mounts, exhuast etc can get expensive

How much time and money would an engine swap take?

There is no real answer to this question as we dont know what kind of skills you guys have. Do you have any connections to parts or are you going to have to pay full retail prices for the parts to do the conversion? There is alot of factors to doing conversions and there is no real way to put a time or price on them. There is alot of knowledge here and many ways of doing the same job and what one is right or wrong is only a matter of you being able to do it which ever way works for you and saves you the most money. Keep us posted and ask all the questions you can to help yourself out.......Mike.
