Hey guys,

When I am accelerating at low rpms my truck seems to stutter almost like it misfires or something. When it is in neutral I can rev the engine with no problem. It almost seems like its not getting fuel for like half a secont or no spark for half a secont. Its like an on and off kind of thing. It happends rapidly. When I am driving the truck at consistant speed it has no problem and it does not studder when i am accelorating at high rpms like 2600 and up but from 1000 to 2600 it seems to stutter out. Sometimes it is worst than others. Anybody know what this could be??

Thanks Dominick

i had a problem like this i think.
it pretty much just shakes while idling and first accelerating?
i took mine to our ford dealer a few days ago and they told me my number 5 cylinder isnt doing anything. i dont know if its just a valve or something but i do know it had no compression whatsoever.
best thing i can say is take it somewhere and have a diagnostic ran.

Well it runs strong and it idles very well the problem only occurres during acceleration. Besides I paid 600 dollars for the truck and I am a pretty handy person. I would find it foolish to bring it to ford and get a bill for up to a thousand dollars for something that is probobly very simple. I just have not been able to figure it out but I'm sure sombody will be able to tell me how to troubleshoot the problem.

Thanks dominick

I have a 91 Exploder doing the same thing. I'm thinking that it seems to be slowly getting worse like a fuel filter getting clogged slowly so....I'm going to change the fuel filter and check some grounds this week. The stutter is so small It may be a non issue at higher rpms. No codes to start with.....

If I find the problem, I'll post again....

Try checking the TPS...clean the MAF

how current is the tune-up
that might cuase a misfire with would feel like what you described

I am having the same problem With my truck it runs smooth, but when I get to speed and let off the throttle a little bit it has this studder. Did you happen to get your issue fixed? If so what was the problem?

I did plugs and wires and the issue was stopped dead in its tracks. Now it gets better gas milage and runs smoother. I wouldn't be supprized if they were original plugs in the truck at 147000 miles!
