Engine Removal Explorder 4.0 sohc

Engien is short blocked in the truck broke the back cassette, timing chains, and need to remove motor, exhaust is off, all accesories are off, 8 bolts out of bellhousing, 4 torque converter nuts off, motor mounts are removed, engine hoist is hooked up and at tension, tranny is blocked, motor wont budge, pry on lower bell housing, and it appears theres still a bolt in bellhousing, as stated 8 bell housing bolts laying on the ground, cant for the life of me figure out why the motor wont seperate from bell housing????

Starter motor is off?

Can you/did you, spin the torque converter?

Are you sliding the engine forward or the tranny backwards?

I just pulled a 98 explorer motor. You said you removed the motor mounts? when I pulled out the 4.0 on the 98 I had to unbolt the motor mounts from the frame they kept hanging on the mounting plates.

The trans case is aluminum, the dowel sleeves and block are steel/iron.

Can you say "bimetalic corrosion"?

The design of modern automobiles is such that you are generally intended to take the trans off the engine, not the engine off the trans. I have found that it can help to stick a jack under the front of the trans and jack up, let off, rinse repeat. It wedges and then stresses that joint between the engine and trans. If you truly have everything off it shouldn't take more than twice to knock them apart.
