Got a free running 93 3.0 manual. Engine leaking everywhere. Ram great, no smoke or anything. I tore it down to the short block and it looks great, a lil carbon, cleaned the carbon off the top of the cylinder walls with some fine scotchbright, Can’t feel anything with my fingernail anymore.
I come from automotive background and still active in it, so I know about cars. My question is in your experiences, how often have you just got a new gasket kit, head bolts and sent it without getting the heads checked? I took the heads off in sequence and cleaned the cylinders with the block upside down with brake cleaner. I was just going to reseal it and put it back in, it’s not my daily driver and will rarely be driven.
Thoughts?
