whats your guys guess on a full rebuild price? engine is a 90 302CI

this would be at as low a cost vs quality thing

did you try looking up the price on the long blocks on ebay? might save some money that way. you also might get lucky on craig's list for the twin cities or Duluth and get a rebuilt one or one in a car for a decent price. just a thought... or two.

Only way you'll even get a ballpark price is to take it to a machine shop, have them tear it down, and see what needs done. Machine work is fawking expensive and adds up quick, but the rebuild kits are relatively cheap if you just want stock parts.

It is almost to the point where it's cheaper and easier to just get a crate motor. I have heard that O'Reilly will give good discounts on them to repair shops so if you have any friends, make them hook you up. You'd just have to give them your old engine.

Last time I checked machine work alone was over a grand. That was about 10 years ago.

A long block is about $2400, I'd guess that parts are around 5 to 600....

building it yourself doesn't save you much money these days.

Yikes ouch I'm really hoping I don't need to go this far. I think it needs new seals. And a tune up plus iv got a few vacuum leaks and some of my emissions stuff is fubared

Luckily there are still a lot of 302's left in junkyards and parts cars. Probably could snag one of those really cheap... I bought my donor car for my 302 swap for $250 and scrapped it for $225.
