So my 83 makes a weird hum/buzz sound and I can't figure out for the life of me what it is. Happens when I start going but only for a little bit then stops if I slow down. I'll see if I can get a video posted of the sound later.

Unfortunately no power steering. Almost sounds like air going through an open hole. I can only hear it while driving which is making it hard l to pinpoint. These power steering pumps are noisy devils.
Automatic or manual?Unfortunately no power steering. Almost sounds like air going through an open hole. I can only hear it while driving which is making it hard l to pinpoint.
It's an auto c6 with 351w. I just had the trans rebuilt last fall. The noise started to happen this winterAutomatic or manual?
If auto it could be a pump/torque converter
What will that check? I can only hear the sound while I'm moving, not in park and just running. I was thinking maybe a bearing cause it has something to do with the movement of the truck.Remove the belt temporarily. You should be good for a few minutes with a cold engine.
Thats why i think its a pump or torque converter. What will that check? I can only hear the sound while I'm moving, not in park and just running. I was thinking maybe a bearing cause it has something to do with the movement of the truck.
It does notHe's saying go for a quick drive with the belt off, he's right, for a couple minutes you should be ok without water circulating
Does it change when you rev it up in park?
