engine noise

i just put a thrush welded exhaust on my truck, and im wondering if theres any way to cut out some of the engine noise of my 4.0, it really really takes away from the sound of the thrush, because from behind he truck it sounds awesome but at a front quarter angle or dead on front you can only hear the engine, thanks for looking.

What part of the engine is excessively noisy? If it's the power steering pump (likely), you can try bleeding it under vacuum as described here:

I've heard mixed reviews about this process but it didn't work for me. I may not have done it right but I eventually gave up and swapped in a saginaw pump. Now it's whisper quiet

yeah, i figured the power steering pump, and i also figured out that one of my belt pulleys is shot, yeah, when the truck sits idle you cant really hear it too bad but its still ther, how much for a new power steering pump would you say?

Look it up on oreilly's website. Every zip code is a different price... My Saginaw is from a '79 f350

I thought the PS pump was junk on my kids, turns out it was the PCV valve. It was a metal housing one, rattled and buzzed just like a shot pump, replaced it with a motorcraft one( plastic ) noise gone!
