Engine missing on cyl 2 and 6

Engine has been rebuilt with heads redone, new cam, cam bearings, rings, rod bearings, main bearings, rocker arms, push rods, oil pump, timing chain w/ sprockets, guides and tensioner. It has new plugs, wires and coil pack. compression is 180 to 190 on all cylinders but you can pull plug wires 2 and six off and it doesn't change. Any other wire you pull off does what you would expect it to do. Any ideas?

Check and see if you have spark at the ends of #2 and #6 wires. IF you do it is most likely a fuel delivery issue, assuming the engine was built, valves adjusted properly and wires are going to the correct cylinders.

Cylinders #2 and 6 share the same bank on the coil pack. I’d start there and see if it’s a spark issue. If there’s no spark, it could be a bad coil pack, wiring, or driver in the ECM.

Check for spark. If there is no spark, then you will know where to look. If there is spark, then you know it's a fuel issue.

Thanks for the replies. I went out to the shop last night and did what I should have done first. I used the scan tool for OBD1 and on the KOER test I got a code 172. I'll be replacing the O2 sensor on the right bank tonight and I'll post the results when that is done.
