that's what the source content document in the window stated.
on a black Lariat at the dealer.

Weird, I thought they were supposed to be made in Cleveland? I remember that because I thought it would be cool if I got one both my Ranger engines would have been made at the same plant.

I'm surprised too - I thought they were produced in Spain and Ohio.

Not surprised.

It might be an early production thing.

Who cares anymore, really. People bitch and moan about "made in USA" products but have no problem eating Avocados from Mexico, or German Chocolate, or Belgian Waffles, or the Indian Pale Ales that have plagued the beer section.(sarcasm)

Historically a lot of ranger engines were not made in the US. Nothing new.

I was just rantin' and spewing nonsense. Also nothing new. I don't even think Belgian waffles are from Belgium.
The (sarcasm) was for the whole statement.

As long as the engine works and is durable, I don't care

I don't think anybody was particularly concerned about it being produced in Mexico, just surprised. It's either a misprint, or Ford's set up a new location for building Ecoboost engines recently. I couldn't find any documentation in a quick search.

Companies are notorious for saying products are made in the USA. As long as they meet the minimum definition and percentages, the product qualifies. So, a good portion if it could be made from out of country made parts but as long as it’s assembled in the US and the minimum percentage of US made parts are used, it’s built in the USA.

It was supposed to be Cleveland. Maybe they are setting it up yet... or maybe plans changed.

Yep. Originally in Spain, and then production in Cleveland. Mexico is all new as far as I know.

I must be missing something, because I clearly remember Fords and Volkswagens and a few other brands being built in or parts assembled in Mexico. Circa late 90's. It was a big deal then, consumers realized that Camrys and BMW's were being built in SC somewhere and Fords were coming from Mexico and Canada. Wikipedia says the Focus engine is built in Mexico, and isn't the Ranger engine Basically the Focus ST/RS engine?

German chocolate is made in Pennsylvania.
