After seeing the "beefing up your engine" title I was thinking--how much beef does your engine have? I made this chart off the service manuals I found lying around my chair.

Will, you do realize that the 2.3 ford came with 2 different size main journals over the years, the early (< 89) motors had larger journals while the newer ones (>89) have smaller ones, right? Surprisingly, the small journal motor is good for more power. Either way, with 1.25 mains per cylinder (try finding that in a V8) you can't kill the bottom end in one of these things, even at insane amounts of turbo horsepower.

That's from the '91 service manual. I dont know much about them.

Hmm, looks like the 300 wins out of the smaller engines on the list ;cheers;

....and the 7.3LPSD on the bigger ones.

later,
Dustin
