Hey just curious if someone could tell me the easiest way to figure out why my engine light turned on. The engine seems to be running perfect. For a 1991 2.9 Ford Ranger is there an engine light code reader that I could buy? If so where?
Thanks a lot for your time!

Check the tech library.

I did check the tech library and it didn't say if my 1991 has a plug in spot for a sensor code reader or if i just have to do it the Analog Voltmeter way.
thanks again

It has a plug for a reader under the hood on the passenger front next to solenoid and blower motor area.

Got a code

so i ran the code reader and it came up with 67 o which by the ford code reader book it says it is a problem with the Neutral Pressure Switch. Anyone have an idea where it would be located in a 91 and could someone tell me what it actually does?

Maybe the neutral safety switch...??? Idk...

ya i guess if a neutral safety switch is the same thing... the book that came with the Ford code reader just says neutral pressure switch. anyone know anything about it? my truck is a manual if that matters.

I had the Engine light come on my 2.9 about three years ago and found the connection to the oil level sensor had a bad connection. Fixed that and have not had any problems since.

my oil level sensor is good because it warned me recently when my oil level was low then i added oil and it turned off. so but ya anyone know anything about a neutral safety switch? and if i have one with a 5 speed. my truck starts and seem to run fine but that engine light keeps coming on with that code so it is driving me crazy. If someone knows where it is and what it does that would be awesome!
thanks for your time!
