i have a friend who had a 88 ranger 2.9 it would run fine then spit sputter die. wait 10 minutes it was good to go for 20 min then start all over again. he said he replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, cap rotor, coil, ig, box never could find the problem he ended up selling it. now my new manager in my apartment building says the 85 ranger with a 89 2.9 FI engine is doing the same thing as his she also had furl, filter , pump replaced. and replacing one part after another no change. seems like something is overheating and shutting down till its cooled. sone one have this happen to them? if so what was the cure ? i would like to get her ranger wanting to swap her my f150 4x4 for her 2wd p/u i do not need a 4x4 any more plus the gas mileage would save money also.

Typical TFI failure.

yup. splash or mist some water on the TFI module... its the rectangular thing on the distributor, and it will prolly start right up.

hey thank you a ton :yahoo: i told her about it and to try to have her husband do the water trick. will let you know what happens after i find out something.
