Hey guys hows it going? I'm running into a problem on my 95 Ranger 2.3L.
I live in arizona but my ranger came from california and has OBD II. The problem I'm having is I ran it through emission yesterday and it passed on the emissions part but failed on the vapor part. So I went through replaced every vacum line going to the gas tank, I did find a crack in the gas tank filler neck so I replaced it. Took it back through emission and it still failed the vapor portion of the test. Now I kind of at a lose, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to drop the tank and maybe reseal the fuel pump, I've run into that before on other vehicles. I'm just wondering if anyone would have any ideas as to what else to look for. Thanks for your help. I'm just hoping I don't have a hole in the tank some place but there are no wet spots. :icon_confused: By the way I have no codes no check engine light.

I would take the bed off the truck, it is easier. This happened to me just the other day. The vapor line that goes into the truck was actually disconnected from the top of the tank and the fuel pump gasket was leaking. I tested mine before I took it back in to get it re smogged by hooking up my air blow gun to the line and setting the pressure on the air regulator to like 20 psi and pressurizing the system to see if it will hold.

Yeah I had that same thing vapor line was off the tank. I fixed it but it still didn't pass. So now I'm going to replace the fuel pump its 15 years old any ways thats the only other thing it can be is that seal around the fuel pump is leaking. Pisses me off though.

Anyone ever have a problem with the fuel tank rollover valve. The reason I ask is that so far on my 95 ranger I have replaced ever vacuum line going to the gas tank, I replaced the filler neck and double clamped the tank end of it. Then I replaced the fuel pump because the gasket was misaligned and leaking. Took the truck back through emission and it still didn't pass the vapor test. Other then a crack in the gas tank which with a full tank would be easy to find I can't think of anything else that would cause a vapor leak then the rollover valve or the grommet around it leaking. Any ideas anyone. :icon_confused:

I'm just going to plug the vapor line up to the charcol canistor, and totally seal the rollover valve and forget it.
