Okay so i really need some help and this is a good one for you electrical gurus out there. So from the start:
Got an 04 ranger 4.0 4x4 that has an 03 engine tranny swap. the ribbon that is inside the stering wheel wich controls the cruise etc.. was installed wrong. One thing lead to another and one day that ribbon snapped while i was turning and caused the air bag to blow up in my face. i did not know at the time but the snapped ribbon had lives wiring comeong from it which were touching metal and causing a shortage. thisw caused wires to fray and melt together. Wires melted together on the inside of my light switch as well. and also wight above my right foot there were some melted too.
I recently ripped out the steering wheel seperated the melted wires reinsulated them and disconnected the broken ribbon and threw it away. I also seperated the melted ones on the insed of my light switch and reinsulated them, same with the ones above my right leg.
Mind you i have been driving this thing for a while now and just recntly had [roblems with it not starting. i bought a new fuel pump and fuel pumpo relay. there is still a short somewhere and i cant seem to find it. There is no power going to my fuel pump and the inertia switch had been bypassed by whoever put this truck together. i know ultimately i am going to have to take the dash out but my general question since these wires had ben melted what do you think could be causing my power loss to the fuel pump? and are there any other fuses tied in with it besides the relay.
PLEASE HELP...ANY WIRING DIAGRAMS AND FUSE BOX diagrams etc are greatly appreciated for this truck has no owners manual or repair manual.
PS...what would be the best way to search for a short and where should i begin i am no elecitrical expert. but do know a thing or two and am very mechanically inclined
THANK YOU ranger guys
