Electrical problem

I know this is for fords but maybe some one can help me out. Just got a 95 Buick century. Runs great and everything worked at first. Went to go to the store at night and had no headlights. Come to find out the power door locks, dash lights, brake lights, rear defrost, and stereo memory all don't work either. Checked all the fuses and they are all good. Not sure what went on with this but need some help.

Could a fusible link cause this problem?

A fuse link would probably not cause all of that, without causing other things to not work as well.

I would suspect that there is a single common cause though. I am not terribly familiar with older GMs, but get a wiring book, and start tracking the problems one at a time.


Although this time of year it could be rodentia causing your problems.

I figured out my problem. Their is a connector off the pos battery cable with three fuseable links and one of them was melted. Respliced it and all works again.

Spliced the wires together without a fusible link.? Or did you get a new fusible link at the parts store and splice that in. Your looking at major problems it you did it the cheap way. Just asking. Had a buddy do it that way and melted the entire harness one week later.
