Okay, well this problem has just recently started and its quite annoying. My truck is an 06 ranger xlt. v6 3.0.

The problem: I'll be driving along minding my own business when all of a sudden some of my dash lights start to go off (theft, oil pressure, check engine all coming on within 4 seconds), then my motor dies? I still have power through out the truck (no dimming lights, etc). Pop it in neutral and starts right up and its fine. It first only started when I might of hit a good size bump or what not, but now its to the point where I am just randomly driving.

I'd like to attempt to find the solution to this problem as its causing a headache.

Battery terminals are tight and clean. Any plug I saw was pulling, check for corrosion then plugged back in. All relays and fuses are good. Any suggestions?

Just curious have you actually pulled the cluster out of the dash and checked those connections? Just thinking it could either be loose or maybe got like a bad wire or something back there. Electrical is by no means my specialty. I can do enough to get by but i'm far from an expert. I would go to your nearest parts store and have them test the alternator. They can do it while still on the vehicle. It would be strange it doesn't cause dimming lights because every time my alternator has blown that was the first sign but it's worth checking. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of electrical and the newer rangers can come along and help. Mine is a 97 and about all i know is 97 on back. Haven't had the money to get one of the newer rangers.

Well I spent a good part of the day chasing every wire to check if it went to a ground. If it did, I pulled it off, cleaned it and put a tad bit of di-electric grease on. The problem is now gone. So my guess is it was a ground.
