ok heres what i have it is a 1988 ranger extended cab 4x4 i did a trade deal and ended up with this guys project, he took a 91 motor and trans 2.9,5 speed and put it in this truck it was automatic, i have installed the wiring harness that he supplied and i have a cannon style plug with 5 leads to it,and a 3 prong plug with 3 leads to it that i can not figure where or how to hook them up i also have a saftey switch at the clutch pedal that there is a cap on to bypass that switch, or complete the circut, anyhow i have no spark,i have checked the coil, distributer, etc, i am thinking it has to with the cannon style plug?? thanks for any who can help me

Cut off the cannon plug and tape and ignore the pink wire (converter lock up). Connect the red wire with light blue stripe AND the red wire with white stripe to the neutral safety switch on the top passenger side of the trans. (You can temporarily twist them together first and start the truck to verify they are correct). This is what kept your truck from starting.

You can wire these 2 though the clutch interlock switch if you prefer that set up.

The remaining 2 wires are connected to the back up switch on the top driver's side of the trans. If I remember correctly, the 3 pin plug is for shift solenoids on the A4LD and don't apply so tuck that plug up out of sight.

This was the setup for my 89 2.9L swap so with a little luck it should be the same for yours.

ok i tryed that , there are 2 wires comeing from the plug on the tranny , did both plugs and still no fire,

Not sure what you mean "did both plugs". Just twist the red/blue and the red/white wires from the 5 pin cannon plug together and the truck should fire.
If it does not there may be other problems. This assumes the wire colors on yours is the same as on mine and that you have not removed the clutch interlock jumper.

ok well there,s a screw in sensor on top that has a 2 lead wire comong from it,and theres aother screw in sensor on the upper pass side ,that has a 2 prong plug, any way tried putting the 2 wires together and still no spark it is cranking over if i jump the red/blue wire to the ignition wire that goes out to silinoid ,but no sparky yet theres also a plug on the inside that i can,t find anywhere to plug in , i do have a picture of it maybe yours has the same ?

On mine I could just twist the two WIRES together (you could also jump across them at the cannon plug if you did not yet cut off the plug) without them being connected to the neutral safety switch and the truck would start.

Since you have a 91 wiring harness and an 88 truck something may be different in the wiring. I would think that if the color codes of the two wires matched, it would work unless something else was wrong. Did you check that the clutch interlock switch jumper plug was firmly in place?
