Electrical Issues

I have a 1999 Ford Ranger 2.5 with a electrical issue. The parking lamps stay on unless I remove the fuse. The switch nor the relay will control them. The wiring diagram in the Haynes manual and on AutoZone do not match up with the wires coming out of the fuse panel under the hood. It started after blowing the fuse one time and now the fuse must be removed for the lights to go out. Any ideas? should I just run one of the wires off that fuse to a toggle switch?

Removing the fuse should de-energize the relay. If the fuse is on the circuit signaling the relay, then that means the light switch is constantly providing juice to the relay. Replace the switch or go redneck with a auxiliary toggle switch

Replaced the switch already. It is overriding the switch.

I can send you the 2000 schematic for that.
Should be the same as 99.

FWIW, I think your parking lamp relay contacts are welded (replace parking lamp relay).

It'll be tomorrow morning before I can send that (from work). In the meantime, send me a PM with your e-mail address. I will "fill" your Inbox, so make sure there is room.

Sent you what I had on this 'puter.
Should be able to see how the relay could "do that" with what I sent, labeled Instrument and Parking lights. Good luck.

Anybody else needing any 2000 or 1993 schematics, send me a PM.

Now that I think about some more, there have been quite a few Ford Headlamp switches that "overheat" and melt. They even sell replacement pigtails for the switch because wires melt. And not just Rangers. I'd give that switch a good inspection. I'll make sure what I send you tomorrow includes headlamp switch testing. May not be in that first batch.

Never mind, I see you already replaced the switch....
