hi. i have a 92 ranger with a 2.3l and i beleiv my radiator fan is sticking. so i would like to do an electric fan conversion.

ive done some searching on here but cant seem to find any info. please help. how much does it cost? is it worth the money? how much hp will it free up? how much mpg gain should i expect to see?

The short answer to the last two questions is not much. Change the stock thermotsatic clutch (cheaper - easier option) It spins freely until the engine warms up and it costs a lot less than converting yours to an electric.

This is one of the most talked about subjects on this board. You are not searching correctly.:)shady

Hey buddy,

Search my Username, I did a tarus e-fan install, I can't remember but i think i went pretty in-depth...

It's easy!!

how much does it cost? For a new fan, relay, and temp switch, ~$130
is it worth the money? No
how much hp will it free up? None. An electric fan is less efficient.
how much mpg gain should i expect to see? None.

I switched to an electric fan so I could turn it off on deep water crossings to avoid flinging mud and water around the engine compartment. As expected there was no HP or MPG gain. The fan did not cool well enough and robbed power from my winch. I have since switched back to a mechanical fan.

but taking the mechanical fan off will gain 2-3 hp maybe a hair more from taking the mass from the roating assembly, it's worth it for me for as said above me.

I like E-Fans myself.Ran one on a Explorer,the 85 with a 2.8 and now with the 302.
When I put the 351 Iam building for the 81 F100 Ranger Ill run one on it.

i run a tuarus fan on my 99 with a 3.0L in it and I could tell alot of difference and the taurus fan only draws 18 amps on start-up and about 14 amps when running on the high speed
Fan on ebay was 92.00 shipped
relay 6.00
thermostat switch 18.00
wire about 10.00
and i feel it is worth every penny I gained about 2 miles a gollon
