What brand offers the best electric drill at an affordable price?

I've really put my Black&Decker electric drill through a lot and it's still working just fine. And I don't think they cost too much.

Milwaukee hands down the best in my book.Expensive new,but you can pick one up at a pawn shop pretty reasonable.

Oh my Black&Decker is plug in, should have clarified. I'd say for a cordless drill, Makita also makes a good product.

I love my Ryobi for work around the house. well built and has stood up to 4 years of abuse, but when it dies I'm upgrading to a Milwaukee.

That said I like Dewalt products.

If you want a bulletproof 1/2" corded drill Milwaukee wins.

Jim, I edited the choices for your poll.

I deleted Skil, which had no votes and replaced it with Milwaukee
which already has had posts in favor of them

I wish you could have more than four choices because I consider the
two best to be Milwaukee and Makita.

I have a cordless Makita that (sadly) won't take a charge anymore.

But no matter, I have a Milwaukee that takes the same 18V battery
packs as my cordless sawsall.

The big three in the american market place at this time are Milwaukee,
Makita and DeWalt anyone else is essentially an "also ran"

the nice thing about Milwaukee is that you buy it ONCE.

Milwaukee dealers actually have PARTS in stock to fix most things

And can order anything else...

as far as "plug in tools" a Craftsman is "ok" but deven though sears has parts by the time you need any parts don't expect them to remember the tool you have or have the parts you need.

Milwaukee plug in tools exemplify commercial tools.

IF there is a better drill anywhere than a Milwaukee HoleShooter
I've never heard of it.

BTW, I don't know where the others are made but all my Milwaukee stuff is made in my favorite place: U.S.A.

In these troubled financial times the idea of buying a tool
made overseas would make me want to spit in someone's face.

Very light duty/wife's drill...... B & D Firestorm

My Dewalt cordless stuff has been used commercially and dropped/abused beyond belief. My buddy that I work with sometimes has a Makita cordless, he always reaches for my Dewalt if it is available. My 1/2" Milwaukee hammer drill just doesn't seem to die. Any time we've had heavy duty stuff. Say needing to drill cores in concrete, then a Hilti wins hands down.

For the record, I have Milwaukee corded drills (2, actually, one was my dad's, one was my grandpa's) and my cordless drills are Makita. They also make a great cordless panel saw, use the same batteries as my drill. Wouldn't trade for any of them.

Same here; Milwaukee corded, Makita cordless. And I've had them forever.

My Milwaukee has out lasted any other corded drills I've ever owned. I finally killed it mixing thin set and concrete resurfacer. I just picked up a 1/2" Bosch hammer/drill, if it's like my other Bosch tools, it will be killer.
