How do you determine whether your truck is equipped with or without EGR?

how do you determine this? model year? I was looking at JBA headers at stuffforyourranger.com and on the 98 to 07 model it asks you to select egr or no egr.

thanks

wicked-sludge, are you on RPS? ive been posting questions there too. just wondering.

im signed up, but i havnt posted over there in months.

everything that new has EGR.

if you want to double check, heres a simple exploded view of the system:

On some Ford automobile models including Ranger and Explorer, and with differing engine configurations, the EGR was not used. The exception was manual transmissions, where the EGR is used. Some of the early 90's models were this way. I'm not sure about the 03.:)shady

They stopped using EGR's in 2002. I believe that 2001 was the last year they put it on the 3.0.

do you have a source for this information? i can send you an EGR valve for a 2007 3.0 ranger if you'd like...

No need for the egr valve. I was pretty sure they didn't but my mistake. I'm not near perfect...I'll be the first to admit.

look at the drivers side manifold, a tube will be coming out the side just like Wicked showed
