my truck has NO EGR system !

the EPA is only concerned with the tailpipe emissions. it doesnt care how the manufacturer gets there. certain vehicles are able to get away without certain emissions components.
getting rid of your EGR and other emissions "crap" will cause drivability, reliability, fuel economy, and power problems...not to mention the increased emissions. there are no advantages to getting rid of emissions devices, i dont know why people are so eager to do so.
no amount of EGR failure will EVER leave you stranded on the side of the road. EVER. you could porposly ravage the system and still not get anything worse than sever drivability problems
