ok, so i have a friend tellin me if you take off the EGR plate underneath the carb, and disconnect all the wiring, the truck runs shitty, iam machining a spacer to take the place of the EGR plate. has anybody done that?

iam from Virginia, and garages around here aint none to chill about just signing you dam inspection sticker. so iam just gettn rid of the EGR crap.

thanks

thtas illegal and its not tollerated by the ranger station. and further talk about this will get you a nice ride in the time out chair. what exactly is wrong that you need to remove the egr anyway?

the guy you are talking to the one your supposedly trying to help

well jumping him about legality is not a good way to help anyone. he asked if anyone has done it, not your opinion on how "legal" his truck is. he is obviously worried about the Virginia state inspection, so he probably knows that the mod is not by the books. i say go for it. if i were worried about inspection i would make the spacer look as close to the stock plate as possible and maybe even make a dummy egr setup that doesnt actually hook to anything but looks like it does if a nosy inspecto-tech were to glance at it.

listen. trs is very stict about legality. just look at the exaust thread. im trying to save the guy from getting the time out chair. theres no advantage to removing the egr. and theres no point.

if i were you id stop judging everything i say and stop commenting on the things i do and try to help the guy out. yeah he probably doesnt care about his inspection. but the law does. so if he wants to break the law and get booted from trs for talking about it so be it.

good day to you sir.

time out oh my god! holy rusty ranger batman i should stop commenting on the things you say and do? i thought this was a forum based site where the whole point is to comment on the things people say and do.... lets talk legality.... i have hollowed out cats, coil spacers, and a roll pan, all of which are illegal in the state of virginia and will cause my truck to not pass inspection, call the feds! ban me from driving but for gods sake before you do it. ban this opinionated single minded idiot with a chevy motor first.
and i say good evening to you sir.

im putting in a chevy because my 4 banger blew up. it had no cats. no emmisions, and was illegal as heck. my 350 is gonna be legal. so im not breaking the law.

have a pleasant evening sir. and have a better tomorrow

every day is a great day for me your taxes pay my salary lol.

ANYWAY BEFORE WE GET INTO A FLAME WAR LETS GET BACK TO THE OP,

there is no real benefit to removing the egr. on these old ranger, the carburetor is controlled by a computer. and it has tempurature sensors, o2 sensors, all that crap. removing the egr system will make the trck run like crap. i did it on mine with no success. so i would fix whats wrong with it or you will have a ton of fun trying to get around the problem. but thats just my opinion. hope this helps.
