egr valve replacment

95 ranger xlt super cab 4x4 4 liter
Trying to replace egr valve, got two very rusted bolts loose (they appeared to have two different sized head 10mm 8mm) but have been unable to get larger size pipe undone(exhaust side I presume). It looks like from the new one it just unscrews. I have not been able to bulge this fellow(about 1 inch in size). What size exactly , am I wrong thinking the item just unscrews, and if not what now. Just for your enjoyment weather guy said no rain today just got in the middle of doing this outside today and guess what happened .
