EGR Valve problem

i rebuilt the heads on my 2.9 I wanted to know what the deal is with the egr valve. My old heads had the egr valve hooked up on them, but the newer heads and exhaust manifolds have the holes plugged. Do I need to hook it up on the new head and manifold, of just plug the vaccuum line.

The heads should have no bearing on egr/non-egr systems, since the egr tube/valve are tied in from exhaust manifold to the upper intake.

Plug it off? No go if you have emissions testing, although it is stil illegal anyhow.......

I'm also pretty you will have some driveability issues, since the ECU is "looking" for an egr "signal"

My '87 B2 has the EGR plugged at both ends (no tube at all), and the vacuum lines plugged.

Driveability is A-OK, but mileage continues to be less (16-17 mpg with a mix of town & highway driving) than I would like to see with this vehicle, which may or may not be related to the missing EGR.

At least in the state of MD, it was easily able to pass an emissions test with the EGR disconnected. In MD they do not "hook-up" the computer on vehicles that old, and do not even look under the hood. Instead, they actually perform a pipe test with a simulated road trip. Also, in MD, if the vehicle is > 20 years old, it can be registered as "historic", and then no longer has to take the pipe test every two years. Check your state regs and procedures.
