ok so i recently changed my valve cover gaskets in my 86 ranger and when i was going back together with it broke the egr pfe sensor. i was wondering if i should spend the money on a new one or just plug the hole where the vacuum line goes to the egr tube and leave it be. any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I didnt see a difference with mine unplugged, but have it on now.

If you were to just plug the vac, you should just get an 88+ EEC too or else it'll run like crap. At least in my experience. The 88-92 Rangers did not have EGR, so the EEC does not look for the EGR components.

I'd replace the sensor. They aren't that expensive. I replaced mine about three monts ago along with the egr solinoid.

So if I wanted to leave it unplugged and pretty much get rid of my egr system I just replace my eec with an 88+ model? Is there anything else I have to change to work with the new eec? Also whats a good way to seal off the egr tube?

Really, you can leave everything hooked up and just swap in that computer. You could get the EEC and then plug or remove those vac lines and call it a day.

But...If you can find a junker 88-92 Ranger and want to get rid of all the EGR stuff, you will need:

- The EGR block off plate (goes where the EGR would mount)
- Threaded 'nut" that threads into the exhaust manifold. The newer trucks had them blocked from the factory with a simple block off nut. Thats the best description I can give.
- Vac caps for the vac lines off of the motor.
- remove all the old sensors and lines.
