2.3L ('83-'97) Egr issues

92 2.3 ranger manual. I keep getting code 558 iv replaced the egr valve and the valve position sensor along with the egr control valve. Red vacuum line has good vacuum and if I sick on he green line going to egr it almost dies. This is my first post I'm a new member not sure if this is were to ask...

Based on that and you having replaced the hard parts. I'd suspect wiring damage somewhere.

Checked the connection going to the egr solenoid with the key on and voltage looks good. Now I did take both solenoids and supply power to the connection and neither clicked. I'm not sure if they are supposed to or no

I would expect to be able to tell something happened. Being a vacuum solenoid it should be normally closed and open when power is applied. Can you test that? Try blowing through it then apply power and try again?

I did somthing similar to that.. I unplugged the electrical connection while it was running and directly supplied power to it and watched the valve and it did not budge new or old valve.. I'm thinking I got a faulty valve. I did read something that said the ground goes to the ecu and a diode could be bad. I sure do appreciate the quick responce
