So in the process of removing my motor I bent the egr tube beyond repair..so I have a new one to replace it but I couldn't get the tube loose at the bung between the tube and manifold. So I removed the bung. The manifold still has threads but the fitting is stripped. I can't find one and both junk motors stripped in the same way. Replacement manifolds come with a block off plug but not the fitting. Any ideas?? What thread size possibly? Would a brass fitting work from a hardware store?

I can't find my notes for sizes but perhaps you could try contacting ford. Tho when I did that they didn't have the info because my truck is too old. Another possibility is contact a header manufacterer and ask them what fittings they might have.
Also what year and engine are you working with?

if you are looking for the fitting between the tube and manifold, dorman makes a replacement 917-416

Downer, thanks for the part number. 31 bucks for a stupid fittingbut it's the best option. It cost more than the egr tube. The trucks a 97 with the 4.0 ohv. An hour or so of Internet searching netted nothing. The thread is about a 5/8s machine thread. Standard pipe fittings will not work. Thread pitch is too steep compared to the motor parts. Thanks for the help guys. Oreillys, Autozone nor advance auto have it locally so it's a internet order part. Bummer.

Does this fitting for sure fit the 97 4.0 ohv? I just realized it's listed as 98-2014 fords. And directly under ranger it only specified 2.5l engine. It looks right but why wouldn't they list it for the 94-97 rangers?

Well this fitting does not fit. The threads are too short on the manifold side. Guess I'm going to the dealer tomorrow morning. I'll updated with a part number for future help.

That's a bummer. I'm not all up on fittings and I ran into the same problem you did. It doesn't look like I wrote down the info for the fitting I bought [kicks myself]. Please do update...

damn..yes i screwed that up,
