hi everyone
long story short i sent my ranger to the shop for a rough idle and they hydrolocked the motor and bent a rod, go figure. but i see this as a good opportunity to add headers to my list of upgrades only issue is i haven't seen any headers for a 3.0 that have egr on them. so what should i do? delete my egr system or does anyone know of headers with egr on them for and 07 3.0. and if i do an egr delete what would be some side effects?

Most 3rd party headers can be ordered with or without EGR connection.

EGR systems were added to lower emissions when engine is under load, so may be required in some states or for resale to another state.

The EGR valve only opens when engine is under load, benefit is that it lowers temperatures in the cylinders which prevents pinging/knocking, burnt valves....ect.

The computers job is to run the engine efficiently so for best MPG it runs engine as lean as practical, too lean and engine will melt, lean = heat.
So the EGR also allows for better MPG because computer can run engine leaner if cylinders are cooled by EGR system.

The EGR doesn't effect power in any significant way, so IMO I would keep it operational.
Not having it will also trigger the CEL(check engine light) on the dash, so it would be on all the time after EGR removal.

the issue im running into is JBA's claims they make headers for the 07 with and EGR bung but no suppliers carry it form what ive seen

Just send an email to header manufacturer, detail what you need and where you are, they will find you the proper part.

Buy them straight from JBA then. In smaller manufacturing scenarios like JBA they tend to make stuff in batches and you might have to wait until they make a run of 3.0 headers with EGR.

FWIW, back in the day I bought an EGR block-off plate for a Chevy I had. Instead of making more power, it mucked up the fuel mixture and made it ping like crazy. By the time I dialed the timing back enough that it didn't ping (this was in the day of distributors and computer controlled carburators)
it ran worse than it did stock with the EGR working.
