i am about to switch my 4 banger for an older carb v8. my question is. i this, i found a harness http://www.shopatron.com/products/productdetail/part_number=30830/302.0.1.1

that makes the carb engine run, but what do i do with the efi wires in the factory harness, furthermore, do i just add this circut box under the dash, or am i suppose to re run the lights and blinkers and such. i think i am suppose to just add it, but, i want to be sure, my main question is what do i do with the rest of the stock engine wireing i will no longer need. i also want to know how to make my ranger run like the older trucks, i dont like all the sensor crap simple is better.

thank you

You don't need to spend $$$$ on a new harness and you won't re-use all the sensor garbage (just tie-wrap the injector harness & sensor harnesses to the firewall to get them out of the way....get a wiring diagram of your model vehicle and use only the needed wires that come out of the firewall.....for example---the wire that causes the starter to engage on the original engine can be connected to the V-8 starter..............the wire that provides 12v. to the original coil-pack can be connected to an aftermarket coil.......the engine temp sender on the original engine can be installed on the V-8 engine with adapter fittings from a Home depot store......same thing with the oil pressure sending unit...same thing with the alternator wires.....etc.......just take your time finding the wires that come out of the firewall and undo them from the original wiring bundles that are in the engine bay.

As for the leftover wires...leave them in the wiring bundles (if you cut them to throw them away because they're not needed, you could cause other components to quit working, because several components might use the same ground wire or even recieve voltage from different relays that are connected in series....

As for the lights, turn signals, flashers---you shouldn't have to touch those wire bundles.....

Once you've installed the V-8 engine, you'll only need about 10 of the 50 wires that were connected to the original engine....then the V-8 will "run like the older trucks".....
