Hi All,
I'm thinking of installing a Transgo shift kit in my Mazda B2500 AT. I think this would be a 4r44e. My question is has anyone accurately tracked their fuel economy before and after a installing a Trango, or any other, shift kit?

Ultimately I'd rather have a 5sp MT, but I'm curious to see what how I'd like the AT with a shift kit. I don't mind if I don't get better fuel economy, but I'd be dissappointed if it got worse.

Thanks in advance,
Joe

Joe, it is unlikely that a mileage increase could be measured by conventional means, although by the function of a shift kit where it reduces shift overlap (time however briefly that two gears are engaged at the same time) it in theory should. I have never noticed a measured improvement.

Should remain exactly the same unless there was some failure before the kit was installed that it corrected.

Thanks for your responses.

One additional question: Is there additional engine braking on deacceleration with a shift kit?

I know with my Transgo kit in my 91 a4ld, when you down shift, it down shifts NOW, there is no lag time. Up and down shifts are nice a firm. Very well spend 50 bucks.
