I have a '97 3.0 with a DMP1 processor. I also have SCT Advantage 3/XCalibrator 2 soft/hardware from previous applications. I'm thinking of upgrading my equipment to be able to tune this truck, but i'm not sure if it's worth it.

Has anyone had any tuning experience with this processor? I did a search and now I come up with one hit - this thread.

I'm mostly interested in being able to play around with the shift points (4th at 60 kph - uuuggghhhhhh), spark and afr, but not sure if there's anything else I would really want to dive into with this truck, since it's pretty much a DD that's gotta stay reliable. I know I can handle this on my own, but I just don't know how much tweaking I can do with the spark and afr (mostly interested in playing with the low load/throttle area).

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Thanks.

Ive not heard the name advantage 3, but I can tell you that the xcal 2 is one of the best tuners avail, Least as far as the 4.6 liters go. If you have xcal 2 then I would stick with it.

Advantage 3 is the name of the software that comes with SCT's Pro Racer Package. It's the program that allows you to tune "all" of the parameters within the EEC. I've been using it for a few years to tune ..... 4.6s with 4R70Ws behind them.

Right now somewhere on my laptop I have the small lesser version that one can do basic, simple alterations (shift point, tire/gear changes, rev/rpm changes), and minor fuel/spark changes, but i'm wondering if it's worth the time/energy/money to upgrade the dongle I have for the truck's processor (the one I have is for a different vehicle totally).

Heck, let's make this interesting - has ANYONE here even tuned a 3.0 at all???? Care to share ..... anything?

I have a feeling I won't be getting far with this one. :icon_confused:
