EDIS with crank and cam sensor from Explorer

I have the Explorer FEAD, crank sensor, cam sensor, coil packs and the EDIS 8 from a Lincoln and want to install it on my 5.0 to eliminate the distributor. Anyone out there done this? I realize it will require something like a Quarterhorse and some parameter changes on my A9L ECU. I've been doing some research on the EEC IV tuning forums but I'm still not sure it is worth doing. Info or opinions appreciated.

I would think you shouldn't have to do much to the computer to swap to EDIS. I think that will be more of a wiring issue, putting the EDIS unit in as if it were the TFI. It should handle the rest internally.

You might have to leave the dis in place so the computer gets a cam sensor signal it understands though. Not sure to be honest.

Thanks for the info. I know the Mustang crowd did some of these conversions a few years back, but didn't provide a lot of documentation. I found wiring directions from some other places and even the specific parameters that have to be changed on the A9L (from a guy in Sweden). Interestingly, the A9L will support both the crank and cam sensors. Most people advocate using EEC V for the tuning, but re-wiring to get to that point would be a real pain. I guess the most intimidating part for me is the tuning using Quarterhorse which can get pretty expensive and has a steep learning curve. Still thinking about it.
